Dorcas Owen

Dorcas was born in West Yorkshire and studied singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Since graduating, she has performed regularly as a soloist and as part of professional vocal groups such as Cappella Nova and Scottish Voices and is the co- director and singer in the vocal ensemble 'Crafty Musick'. Dorcas is also part of the harp and voice duo 'serendipity' who perform an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music throughout Scotland.

In addition to her singing commitments, Dorcas is very involved in working with young voices. She is the musical director of 'Gael Force'- a young, all female vocal group who perform regularly as part of Historic Scotland's events programme at Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle. She is also the musical director of the Edinburgh Youth Choir, the youth choir of the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, who perform regularly at the Usher Hall and have performed with groups including The Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and the BBC Scottish symphony Orchestra.

Dorcas is also in demand as a singing teacher and is currently teaching at George Watson's College and The Mary Erskine School, both of Edinburgh.
